Are Mothers Ready For An “Alternative Mother’s Day Gift”?

BOISE, Idaho - April 27, 2015 - PRLog -- Mother’s Day could be going alternative this year if the Idaho Ronald McDonald House® has its way. The nonprofit, which provides a "home away from home" for families and their seriously ill or injured children, has created a creative new website for gift givers looking to honor “Dear Mom,” and learn more about RMHC thanks to the support of community partner Regence BlueShield of Idaho.

For as little as $10, the “Alternative Mother’s Day gift” allows children, spouses and others to donate in their mother’s name to “Share A Night” and cover the cost of a family’s stay at the Idaho Ronald McDonald House. Mothers (or women who are simply special in people’s lives) receive a personalized card, while another mother—one with a family in need—is supported by the donation.

The personalized cards can be printed or emailed to tell your Mom about the gift she inspired—and all the good it does for other mothers and families in your community.

So this year, in lieu of—or in addition to—flowers, chocolate, or brunch, you can send Mom your Alternative Mother’s Day Card at mothersday.rmhcidaho.org.

“We share a lot of love and admiration for mothers here at the Idaho Ronald McDonald House, and we wanted to honor them with a gift that’s creative, convenient, and meaningful,” said Mindy Plumlee, Executive Director of the nonprofit.

Donations can range from $10, providing one night of lodging for a family, to $300, providing an entire month of lodging. The amount donated is based on the number of nights a family stays in the House when a child is hospitalized.

This year Mother’s Day is May 10^th.
