The Youth Fair Awards $84,000 in college scholarships to Miami-Dade County students

MIAMI - April 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Expo announced the 84 recipients of its annual college scholarship program at an awards dinner on April 23. This year, it has distributed $84,000 in college scholarships.

The most recent awards ceremony took place at a dinner at the R. Ray Goode Building on The Youth Fair Fairgrounds at Tamiami Park.

The $1,000 college scholarships were awarded to 48 public high school students, 12 private, charter and home school seniors, five adult vocational students, and three alternative education students. Ten seniors who will study for a career in agriculture related fields were each also awarded a $1,000 scholarship.

In addition, six scholarships of $1,000 each have been awarded to students attending Florida International University’s Theater Arts Department.

The Youth Fair awards more than $300,000 annually in college scholarships, cash premiums and awards to local public, private, charter and home school students.  To date, The Youth Fair has awarded more than $10 million to Miami-Dade students to help them achieve their higher education goals. The Youth Fair is the only venue in Miami-Dade County where students can showcase their educational, fine arts and science achievements all in one place and be rewarded for their efforts.
