MIDDLEWICH, U.K. - April 24, 2015 - PRLog -- A technical paper, looking specifically at the role of the machine-shop operator, is available from Forcam. The workshop network integration specialist focuses on the use of comprehensive, accurate digital information to boost productivity. The paper explains how each unique manufacturing process can be supported with a bespoke digital production folder providing all the essential information the operator needs.

A typical work folder could contain work instructions, parts lists, tooling needs, NC programs, drawings, tool setting instructions and other information essential to complete the production task successfully. This is delivered direct to the operator’s screen by Forcam’s manufacturing execution system software, Factory Framework.

Andrew Steele, Forcam’s UK managing director noted, “Even in the best workshops there are often production delays while key information is gathered or parts are wrongly manufactured because of inadequate or out of date information. This costs the company in three ways, wasted man-hours, increased wastage because of scrap or rework and disruption to manufacturing schedules. With a digital production folder all the information needed by the machine operator is delivered in a concise easily interpreted package enabling the technician to get straight on with the task.”

Manufacturing information that is digitally managed, is more reliable and accurate. Authorised changes to specification can be implemented more easily and quickly with complete parts histories, change traceability and full recording of what alterations were made to by whom, when, and why.

The digital production folder software is designed to easily integrate with other third-party software. Data can be streamed automatically from and to TDM Systems tool data management package, for example.

Engineers wishing to access a PDF version of the Forcam paper can download it from http://www.forcam.com/index.php?id=300. The company will also be happy to provide further advice on any aspect of MES implementation.
