FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - April 24, 2015 - PRLog -- Fort Lauderdale, Florida -- April 23, 2015 – Service: That’s what the veterans of the U.S. armed services have given to their country.

Service: That’s what the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) of South Florida (http://www.acg.org/southflorida) and its corporate, private equity, investment and commercial bankers and professional members want to give back to the veterans for their service and sacrifice.

On April 24, 2015, ACG and the South Florida business community, in partnership with the Florida Veterans Foundation (http://www.floridaveteransfoundation.org), will gather at the Woodlands Country Club in Tamarac, Florida, for golf and to raise money to help veterans reintegrate into civilian life.

More than 240 golfers and over 70 corporate sponsors – or roughly double the number from last year’s inaugural tournament -- will contribute time and money to rally to the aid of veterans.  A Who’s Who of the South Florida business community, including the area’s top businesses, individuals and in-kind contributors, has stepped up to sponsor the ACG Charity Golf Classic.

Proceeds from the Second Annual ACG Charity Golf Classic will benefit South Florida’s veterans.  Led once again by Jim Duffy, head of practice development with the accounting firm Grant Thornton, this year’s tournament looks to improve upon last year’s tournament, which raised more than $50,000 to assist our veterans.

The tournament will benefit the Foundation and its upcoming signature South Florida event, the May 1-3 Stand Down at Robert King High Park at 7025 West Flagler Street in Miami. Last year, through the efforts of more than 1,000 volunteers, the Stand Down resulted in the registration of more than 300 homeless and at-risk veterans and their families and took more than 60 veterans off the streets and into either temporary or permanent housing.  Many more veterans were able to procure gainful employment.  All were provided safety, food, showers, medical care, legal aid and other services.
