Crowdfunding for the pilot episode of "Ace Dangerman: Loose-Cannon Law-Man" web series has begun! Following the story of the titular character, Ace Dangerman, this web series is a combination of the best and worst things to come out of the best (and worst) action and buddy cop movies of the 70s and 80s. A mix somewhere between parody and homage, the web series will draw inspiration from favorites, such as Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Predator and The Terminator, and lesser know titles, such as Samurai Cop. Rife with humor, situational puns and action cliches, Dangerman will appeal to anyone with a soft spot for campy 80s films. Ace Dangerman (Gus Froese) is Golden City's finest detective. He may be unorthodox, but he gets the job done. But following the on-duty killing of his partner, Booker (Aaron Taylor), against the advice of The Chief (Kyle Beckwith), Ace vows revenge on those responsible. However, something is afoot in Golden City and Ace uncovers corruption and conspiracy running deep, threatening not only the city, but the world. Created by Brandon Knapik and Gus Froese in 2011, Ace Dangerman finally came to life in the form of a short student film two years later, made on a budget of $1, the price of a stick on mustache. Despite obvious production value issues, the short recieved universal praise from students and teachers alike, with an emphasis on the writing. The cast and crew of Transolar Galactica, a popular science fiction parody web series, even saw promise in the continuation of the character and series and urged continuation. However, the character lay dormant for over a year until just recently, the creators came up with a plan: to produce a web series based on the short film. The creators hope to produce a pilot episode to gague the public's interest in seeing more of their character. If funded, work will begin on the entire first season, which will consist of 13 short episodes, each running 5-8 minutes, when viewed end on end, will form a complete feature film. The new episodes will take the original story and expand upon it, paving the way for future seasons, all of which have treatments. The pilot episode is already written and will examine Ace and Booker's releationship, leading up to his death that makes Ace the "loose-cannon law-man" that he is. The pilot episode is budgeted at $1,000 USD, with expenses being used for transportation and location fees. All cast and crew have agreed to work for free. All equipment is provided by Faulty Wire Studios at no cost. Shooting is slated to begin in late June, in Seattle, WA, with the pilot projected to be posted online in August.
