Pace Yourself for Change! Join Diversity Stride Walk-a-Thon on June 6

Fight bias, bigotry, and racism one step at a time during the 15th Annual Diversity Stride Walk in Hudson County, NJ, to benefit the Youth Leadership Institute

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - April 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Corporate employees, fraternities/sororities, educators, nonprofits, community and faith leaders, and families: Unite with hundreds of change agents in the tri-state area on Saturday, June 6, at the American Conference on Diversity’s 15th Annual Diversity Stride Walk-a-Thon to help raise funds in support of our diversity education programs. Your participation will have a direct impact on New Jersey’s future leaders. Together let’s walk the talk!

“Together, we can help more schools throughout New Jersey send their students to our Lead for Diversity program,” says American Conference on Diversity President and CEO Elizabeth Williams-Riley. “Our student delegates create Action Plans that tackle issues of anti-bullying, anti-discrimination, and hate — and they’re truly making a positive difference in our schools and communities.” NJ is one our nation’s most diverse states and each year we come together at Diversity Stride to demonstrate just how much we value diversity and promote respect.

The action-packed day will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the step-off at 11:30 a.m., at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ! In addition to enjoying a scenic 5K walk around the Statue of Liberty, attendees will be able to:

►Vote for the Annual Diversity Stride Poster Art winners and view the Ann Marley Spirit Award presentation (Read about last year’s winners here (http://americanconferenceondiversity.org/2014/06/23/diver...).)

►Participate in games and giveaways

Your participation helps support the American Conference on Diversity’s Lead for Diversity (http://americanconferenceondiversity.org/lead-for-diversity/) (LFD) initiative, which begins with a summer residential retreat experience. The program brings teams of students from high schools across New Jersey together. Students create Action Plans specific to their school district, which they implement throughout the school year. Each year, the LFD schools’ action plans impact an estimated 20,000 New Jersey students.

Corporate volunteers: Experience our LFD summer session firsthand! Join us on Thursday, July 16, during our special “Corporate Volunteer Day” at the Pocono Environmental Education Center (http://www.peec.org/) in Dingmans Ferry, PA. You can work with the student teams and their advisors to develop the Action Plans and experience the powerful impact LFD has on communities. For more information, please contact our office at 732-745-9330 to register volunteers. Space is limited and registration fees apply. Registration fees will cover round-trip transportation of volunteers and meals for the day.
