Virginia Agency Owner Recognized by Allstate for Outstanding Volunteerism

VIENNA, Va. - April 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Local Allstate insurance agency owner Christine Angles received the Agency Hands in the Community Award for her commitment to helping others and serving in the community. Because of Angles’ outstanding volunteerism, The Allstate Foundation awarded a $1,000 grant to Colvin Run Elementary School Parent Teacher Organizationin Vienna, VA, where Christine Angles volunteers.

More than just home insurance and car insurance, Allstate agents and employees have a proud history of putting their good hands to work in supporting Virginia communities, promoting volunteerism and providing financial resources to enable local organizations to help others. “The Agency Hands in the Community Award celebrates the spirit of service and commitment to our communities where we live, work and do business,” said Regional Sales Leader Dave Simons. “With support from The Allstate Foundation, Christine Angles and Colvin Run Elementary School PTO are making our hometown a stronger, safer place to live.”

Christine Angles, a Manassas, VA Allstate insurance agent, is also the co-char of the Colvin Run Elementary School PTO's Art Plus program.  Art Plus is a PTO sponsored, volunteer driven, art enrichment program for all grade levels that enables students to display creative and innovative thinking and analysis. Art Plus enrichment offers four lessons to all grades each year. The first lesson is a school-wide presentation highlighting the life and works of an artist who is exhibiting in the D.C. area. The three remaining lessons have direct tie-ins to  specific grade level curriculum.  Principal Ken Junge wrote to Christine, "I wanted to thank you wholeheartedly on behalf of the PTO for your role in getting this grant approved for Colvin Run. I also want to thank you for all the volunteer hours you have given to Colvin Run, whether in the class room or as the Art Plus Chair. Know that your time and generosity do make a difference in the learning experience of all children at Colvin Run."

The Allstate Foundation awards $2 million every year to nonprofit organizations across the country in honor of dedicated insurance agency owners who give back to their communities through outstanding volunteerism. To be eligible for nomination, Allstate Independent agency owners must volunteer, mentor, or lead a nonprofit of their choice.
