Follow on Google News | The Great Lakes Premier League Welcomes First Expansion for 2016By: Great Lakes Premier League Milwaukee Bavarians, one of the oldest soccer clubs in the United States, was founded in 1929 by German immigrants as a multi-sport association and becomes the 6th member of the Great Lakes Premier League which was founded in 2015 by longstanding Midwest Clubs RWB Adria of Chicago and Croatian Eagles of Milwaukee, and by newly-founded clubs AFC Ann Arbor (http://www.afcannarbor.com) The Bavarians were most recently affiliated with the National Premier Soccer League, from which they took a hiatus in order to complete extensive upgrades to their home facility, Heartland Value Funds Stadium, by installing a new turf field. The Bavarians have a rich history as a club with Amateur Cup National Championships in 1976, 2001, 2002, and 2003. They also won the National Open Cup Amateur Championships in 2003 and 2009. The Bavarian Soccer Club organization also includes a strong youth soccer club with teams from U8 through U18 boys and girls. The Great Lakes Premier League (http://www.greatlakespremierleague.com) is owned and operated by its founding clubs and by Red Arrow Partnerships who administers the league. The league will continue to consider expansion bids for the 2016 season through October of 2015. End
