Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck To Host 2nd Annual Special Needs Resource Fair

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - April 20, 2015 - PRLog -- On April 24, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck (http://www.camppaquatuck.com/) will be hosting the 2nd Annual Special Needs Resource Fair, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Visitors will be able to meet representatives from many of Long Island’s leading service providers. There will be informational tables for children’s services, transition services, technology, as well as legal and advocacy providers.

Table space is available by invitation only. There is a minimal fee of $70.00 for for-profit organizations, and $30.00 for non-profits. Organizations can begin setting up at 9 a.m. on the morning of the event. Admission is free.

The Special Needs Resource Fair is being held during the month of April, which is National Autism Month. Starting 25 years ago, the Autism Society launched this nationwide initiative to promote autism awareness, inclusion and self-determination for all, and ensure that each person is provided the opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of life.

“The Resource Fair is held during National Autism Month to help spread awareness about special needs care, including autism,” said Bridget Costello, Executive Director, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck. “We encourage everyone to visit the vendors and learn more about these unique services they provide for Long Island’s special needs children.”

Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck (http://camppaquatuck.com/) was created by members of the Moriches Rotary Club in 1946. Located on the shores of Kaler's Pond on eastern Long Island, Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is funded primarily by donations and is a special place where children with physical and developmental disabilities can experience first-hand the pleasures that an active life has to offer. Children participate in a wide range of activities especially designed for youngsters who are in wheelchairs as well as those who are ambulatory. These activities include swimming, boating, arts and crafts, petting zoo, talent shows, cook-outs, games and a Carnival Day. The program also provides educational activities in areas such as nature, arts, fire safety and communication skills.
