2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season Thoughts

April 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Colorado State University and Tropical Storm Risk have both recently updated their 2015 Hurricane Forecasts this week. I wrote up a post on our website briefing explaining what each forecast said and more importantly, I went into my own thoughts on what season may bring.

One big point is that many past seasons with a low number of storms (like what is being forecast) have had a major hurricane landfall on the United States. Some examples are Audrey in 1957, Betsy in 1965, Alicia in 1983, Bob in 1991 and Andrew in 1992.

You can read all of these thoughts, including our own forecast impact maps for the US and Caribbean at http://crownweather.com/index.php/updated-2015-atlantic-hurricane-season-forecasts-have-been-released-by-tropical-storm-risk-colorado-state-my-thoughts-on-both-forecasts/

Also, the data strongly supports the very real potential for some sort of tropical system to form in the Gulf of Mexico in either late May or early/mid June this year. It is something that I'm watching for very closely this year.

Bottom line is that we are just 43 days away from the official start of the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season. We urge you to prepare your clients for the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season the same exact way you would for any other season. It goes without saying that it takes one tropical storm or hurricane to make a season very bad for any one person.

Preparations can be done in a number of ways, including:
1. Finding out about your evacuation zone.
2. Going out and getting shutters to protect your home.
3. Going out to shop for hurricane supplies
4. Going to your insurance agent and make sure you are insured properly and this includes flood insurance.

And most importantly Purchasing a subscription for Crown Weather Plus where we will warn you well ahead of time of any potential tropical storm/hurricane threats. Learn more at http://crownweather.com/index.php/cws-plus/crown-weather-...
