BURY, U.K. - April 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Located near the centre of Hall 4, stand S456 will be home to metal thermal processing and coatings specialist, The Wallwork Group, during the three days of Subcon from 2-4 June. Rapid turnaround service is the theme of the stand, staffed by an engineering team keen to discuss with visitors the many thermal and coating processes available and how Wallwork can help them meet their technical, commercial and manufacturing goals.

The company supports a diverse portfolio of clients in advanced engineering fields such as aerospace, motor sport, medical devices and automotive industries with metal heat treatments, PVD and PECVD coatings and vacuum brazing services. Operating 24/7 from sites in Birmingham, Manchester and Cambridge and with a dedicated fleet of more than 35 vehicles they provide a rapid turnaround service to help customers meet their lean and just-in-time objectives.

Engineering specifiers have multiple options. In addition to heat treatment by salt bath, sealed quench and vacuum processing the company also provides advanced surface engineering using metallic or carbon based coatings. Properties of hardness, resilience and lubricity are imparted to components using equipment of differing capacities for load optimisation and cost effective processing.

The Wallwork Group is continually investing to extend the range of processes that are available. Cambridge, for example, has a purpose built and recently extended vacuum brazing department with dedicated build and test areas. Flexibility is assured in a unit that can fabricate and vacuum braze components from a few millimetres up to 1500x1500mm. Clients include leading Formula 1 teams and other industries where high integrity brazing capable of handling vibration, stress and high pressures are required.

Carbon and metal based coatings to impart specific surface properties such as lubricity, wear resistance and hardness are another speciality. In addition to the popular titanium nitride coatings, Wallwork supply advanced next-generation titanium nitride coating and CemeCon’s TiN Hyperlox and Hyperlox Plus. Various crystalline forms of carbon coating are available to impart differing properties. These range from graphitic and diamond-like coatings to true industrial diamond surfacing for cutting tools.

Research and development is a valuable function at Wallwork Cambridge. The experienced and highly qualified team of scientists and technicians operate leading edge facilities equipped to university research department standard.

Quality is a priority. Wallwork is Nadcap accredited for heat treatment at the Manchester location and has Nadcap approval as a coatings processor at the Cambridge plant. During 2015 the company will be rolling out a plan to extend these approvals to cover more processes. The company also holds process accreditation from aerospace majors such as Rolls Royce, BAe Systems, Airbus and Boeing for specific processes.

Wallwork are problem solvers. The company likes to understand how, where and why any component is to be used so they can provide the best technical treatment. This approach often results in cost reduction, where a heat treatment has been over specified, for example. In other cases longer term savings can arise from improved performance or endurance to reduce whole life-cost and provide other benefits.

Subcon visitors are invited to visit Hall 4, stand S456 to discuss treatment options with company specialists.
