ST. LOUIS - April 16, 2015 - PRLog -- The Travelers Protective Association (TPA), a fraternal benefit society, recently awarded 98 scholarships through its Trust totaling $34,250 during the year’s first quarter.  The grants, which are awarded nationwide to recipients throughout the year, ranged from $100 to $750 per child based on necessity.  This quarter 16 grants were presented to Missouri residents.

Established in 1975, the organization’s Scholarship Trust for the Hearing Impaired provides financial aid to those suffering from deafness or hearing impairment.  Grants are used for mechanical devices, medical and specialized treatment, and education that includes speech classes and interpreters.  To date the trust has distributed over $2 million to more than 4,900 recipients.

“This year marks the Scholarship Trust’s 40th anniversary, and we are so proud of all the people we have helped,” said TPA’s Chief Administrative Officer Albert M. Shoemaker, Jr.  “Our Board of Trustees carefully reviews each and every application, and decisions are typically made within 90 days of receiving requests.”  Shoemaker added that the trust is supported by charitable contributions which, as of May 1, can be made on the organization’s website via PayPal.

Founded in 1890, TPA’s national headquarters is located at 2041 Exchange Dr. in St. Charles, Mo.  The association is licensed in 29 states and has over 26,000 members, which includes more than 17,000 members who have been a part of the organization for more than 25 years.  TPA offers fraternalism to its members, as well as participates in safety projects and community service.  The association provides accident, disability and death benefits to both its members and their beneficiaries.
