MILTON, Ontario - April 15, 2015 - PRLog -- Consumer Reports gives thumbs up to Aeroseal technology

Consumer Reports magazine has confirmed what Aeroseal Canada has been telling home owners – aerosealing your home is the best thing you can do to save energy and increase home comfort.

Consumers Report magazine reported last fall that the single most important home improvement project to lower home energy bill is sealing ductwork. The report was the result of a feature in the magazine, Testing Your Energy IQ, which provided responses to readers’ to a home energy efficiency quiz.  Compared with upgrading windows, insulating the attic, installing light-colored shingles, Consumer Reports identifies sealing all air leaks, including duct leaks, as the single most effective home improvement project for lowing home energy costs.

“Consumer Reports confirms what we already know -- every home can benefit from the Aeroseal duct sealing process. We’re excited to offer a product which pays dividends for home owners both in the pocket book and in terms of air quality and home comfort,” said Alan Beech, of Halton-based Aeroseal Canada.

Aeroseal offers the home energy solution that Canadians are seeking with an eco-friendly process that improves efficiency and home comfort.

During the duct sealing process, a non-toxic mist is applied that travels throughout the interior of a home’s entire duct system.  The microscopic particles of sealant collect around the leaks and cracks until a permanent, eco-friendly, airtight seal is created. Aeroseal reaches all the leaks, even those behind walls and under insulation.  A diagnostic test is then performed to measure the improvement in energy efficiency.

Aeroseal Technology

First developed in 1994 by researchers at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Aeroseal technology provides a highly effective method for sealing leaky ductwork in residential homes and commercial buildings. The Aeroseal process has proven to be the most effective, affordable and viable method of sealing leaky ductwork. More than 100,000 homes throughout the U.S. have been treated with Aeroseal.

Aeroseal was selected as Popular Science’s “Invention of the Year” and was recently named to the U.S. Department of Energy’s “Top 100 Inventions” of the last 23 years. In 2012, Consumer Reports magazine voted Aeroseal the “Number 1 Energy Solution for Reducing Energy Costs”. The technology has recently become available in Ontario.
