CHICAGO - April 15, 2015 - PRLog -- Back of the Yards based urban vermiculture pioneers, Nature's Little Recyclers have announced a ground-breaking partnership with new-to-Chicago crowdsourced on-demand moving service, Dolly, to facilitate urban composting.

One of the challenges that most city dwellers have in effectively composting their home food waste is how to connect that material with a composting location, as most are unable to set up their own composting systems in apartment settings. The partnership between Dolly and Nature's Little Recyclers will allow for consumers to contract for pick-up of special compost buckets to be delivered to the vermiculture processing plant on the south side.

According to NLR Founder Ed Hubbard, “We have created a system that will allow us to provide services to homes and businesses, that help move to the 'No More Landfills!' goal. Working with Dolly, we are able to simply focus on the composting, while Dolly handles our transportation and logistics. This provides a fleet of trucks at our disposal with a simple-to-use app from Dolly.”

Nature's Little Recyclers (http://NLRWorms.com) is a Chicago start-up which has developed a system for “factory-based” worm composting. Earthworms will consume half their weight per day in organic material, ranging from food scraps to shredded paper and cardboard, and produce top-quality “vermicast” compost. Feeding these materials to the worms not only produces beneficial compost, but it keeps tons of materials out of area landfills – a serious concern which has recently been the subject of legislation in cities such as New York, Seattle, and San Francisco.

Dolly, “your friend with a truck”, is a new service in the city, based on a mobile app that connects consumers who need stuff moved with truck and van owners (called “Helpers”) who want to do the moving and lifting for them. It’s like Uber but for moving stuff. You can download it from the iOS or Android stores or directly from their website (http://getdolly.com). Earthday approaches, the partnership between NLR and Dolly means Chicagoans can compost their food waste no matter where they live in the city.
