HRH Crown Princess Of Serbia Arrives To USA Today For Philanthropic Mission In New York

NEW YORK - April 14, 2015 - PRLog -- New York City will be the first stop on a US humanitarian tour where Her Royal Highness Princess Katherine of Serbia will be returning to work with her Princess Katherine Foundation, including LifeLineNY.org, continuing her international humanitarian and charitable work. The Crown Princess, who has spent much of her married life helping the most vulnerable children in Serbia, arrives in New York City on Tuesday, April 14^th, where she will hold media interviews to promote her fundraising efforts, as well appear at an upcoming fashion show featuring the Carlisle Spring/Summer 2015 Collection. She will also travel to Pittsburgh, PA, April 24^th and 25^th before returning to NYC one last day, then departing to her home country of Serbia.

Crown Princess Katherine’s charitable activities have been numerous, especially since the conflict in the former Yugoslavia. From increasing the number of incubators for premature babies, to updating mammography equipment, Her Royal Highness has brought much needed relief to Serbia, especially to children, the elderly and all those in need regardless of religion or ethnic origin. Princess Katherine is the patron of several humanitarian organizations including the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization. In August 2001 The HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation was established in Belgrade, Serbia, with the aim to increase and continue humanitarian activities globally.

The HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation provides aid for medical institutions in the form of medicine and medical equipment, medical training, implementation of reconstruction projects and extension of capacities. In addition, the foundation addresses needs of children with mental and physical disabilities, children with special needs, and orphans. Recent efforts have been expanded to support schools and universities by providing scholarships and improving communication between students and educational experts from foreign countries.

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine was born in Athens, Greece, November 13, 1943. She is the daughter of Robert and Anna Batis.

Princess Katherine was educated in Athens and Lausanne Switzerland. Princess Katherine studied business at the University of Denver, Colorado, and the University of Dallas, Texas. She was in business for a few years in the United States and in 2007 Princess Katherine received an honorary degree in Doctor of Letters from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom.

Her Royal Highness was previously married and has two children, David and Alison. David has a son, Alexander and Alison has four children: Amanda, Stephanie, Nicolas and Michael who live in United States. Princess Katherine has travelled extensively and has lived in Australia, Africa and the United States.

Princess Katherine met HRH Crown Prince Alexander in Washington DC in 1984 and they were married in London on September 21, 1985. Their best man was HM King Constantine of the Hellenes, and the witness was HRH Prince Tomislav, Crown Prince Alexander’s uncle.

When Princess Katherine was in exile with her husband Prince Alexander (http://www.royalfamily.org/family/hrhcpa_bio_eng.htm), she always had her country in her heart. During those difficult years, Princess Katherine worked hard to provide humanitarian aid to Serbia. Among Princess Katherine’s many initiatives, she provided caravans of food, medicines and other necessities to refugees, regardless of ethnicity or country of origin. The Crown Princess has always believed that there are no borders in suffering.

In 1991 Crown Prince Alexander, accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Katherine, Hereditary Prince Peter, Prince Philip and Prince Alexander travelled to Belgrade, where they were very enthusiastically greeted by hundreds of thousands who see the Karadjordjevic Dynasty as the embodiment of all that is best for democracy and Constitutional Parliamentary Monarchy.

Their Royal Highnesses returned to Belgrade in 2001 after the October 2000 revolution. Shortly thereafter, the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation was established with the aim of helping vulnerable and disadvantaged people, including children, the sick, refugees, internally displaced peoples and the elderly.

The Foundation’s daily activities include working with the following ministries that have a crucial role in the development of its projects: Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, Ministry of Labor and Employment and Ministry of Trade and Tourism.
