GARISSA, Kenya - April 14, 2015 - PRLog -- Garissa University, Christian college in Kenya, attacked by militant Muslim extremists from Al-Shabaab (an Al-Qaeda offshoot). Over 700 students taken hostage; Muslims were released, but all Christians killed. U.S. group, Seeds of Hope Kenya, condemns attack. Dean Harriman, president of Seeds of Hope Children’s Outreach, seeking to provide educational aid to disadvantaged teenagers in Kenya, released this statement:

“Those of us at Seeds of Hope Children’s Outreach are deeply saddened by the events of the massacre last week in Garissa, Kenya.  This beautiful country has once again been subjected to the heartless cruelty of terrorism which has no place in a civilized society.  We offer our prayers and love to those who were so hurtfully impacted by these horrific acts.

We only ask that the rest of the world step forward and take action to condemn such atrocities, and work to protect the innocent lives of those not claiming the same ideology as these killers.”  Signed, Dean Harriman, President of Seeds of Hope Kenya. http://www.SeedsofHopeKenya.org. Contact information is available on the website.

"One of the students heard his best friend beg for his life, pretending to be a Muslim. When the friend was unable to recite a Muslim prayer, he was fatally shot."

Seeds of Hope Children's Outreach is a ministry serving teenage street children in Kenya.  Our mission is to build and support the development of a self-sustaining children’s home and vocational school which will provide occupational skills training allowing these children to become employed, contributing members of their community.

Seeds of Hope Children’s Outreach is a non-profit established to save the lives of abandoned and orphaned teenage children in Kenya from the unthinkable consequences of inaction through the building of a children’s home and vocational school. Thus, education—and safety--in Kenya is very important to the group.

Seeds of Hope Kenya is called to help save the lives of abandoned and orphaned children in Kenya from the unthinkable, and avoidable, consequences of inaction.  There are over 300,000 homeless street children in Kenya, mostly teens with very little, if any, education; no homes, family, means of support, no hope. We are here to make a home and a new life for these children who will soon become adults. Time is short.

Teens are least likely to be adopted and most likely to perish.  Most children’s homes focus on rescuing young children, so teens are lost in a crowd that leaves them with little hope and a life of drugs, crime and disease that leads to premature death.

Seeds of Hope will build a self-sustaining children’s home and vocational school to focus on teens who will be pulled from the streets and taught trades of carpentry, mechanics, dressmaking and others. They will receive the message of hope, love and salvation offered by Jesus Christ.

These young men and women will be encouraged to pay it forward as they master their new life and vocational skills.  They will, in turn, use their life skills to train and mentor future children, continuing the cycle of restoration.
