Sisters become best friends through writing mystery series

These sisters barely knew each other until they launched a mystery series

LAS VEGAS - April 14, 2015 - PRLog -- Phyllice Bradner moved to Alaska from Los Angeles CA when she was only 20 while her sister, Morgan St. James, who is 5-1/2 years older remained in Los Angeles.

Their mother became the link, telling each sister what the other was doing, so they rarely communicated directly and barely knew each other until writing their first book together. They spoke two or three times a year by telephone and only saw each other if Bradner visited L.A.
When their mother fell ill, Bradner traveled to L.A. to help deal with their mother's health and the sisters discovered they had two loves in common--each other and funny mysteries. Both were published writers and during that visit conceived idea of writing the award-winning Silver Sisters Mysteries. They grew up in a zany family and translate that humor to their books. Every book draws some of the crazy situations from real-life events.
The Silver Sisters identical twins are loosely based upon the sisters’ own diverse personalities. Goldie Silver, an over-the-hill flower child who owns an antique store in Juneau, Alaska and is the "salt of the earth” is much like Bradner. St. James says that although Godiva Olivia DuBois--wealthy, manipulative widow who is a syndicated advice columnist to the lovelorn and lives on an estate in Beverly Hills, is patterned after her, she isn't syndicated but has written over 600 columns about the craft and business of writing, admits to being manipulative but doesn't live on an estate in Beverly Hills. The fiesty 80-year-old mother Flossie and Uncle Sterling, former vaudeville magicians who love to go undercover dressed in disguise, are inspired by their mother, an aunt and an uncle. Other supporting characters are composites of their relatives, friends or pure imagination. As they write, they love to relive and use some of the funny situations they have experienced which only tightens their bond.
