New Online Video Webinar Helps Small Business Understand Their Commercial Lease

April 14, 2015 - PRLog -- Today, the Greenstead Consulting Group released a new free online webinar video that gives small business owners information about the commercial space leasing process, negotiating principles, the four most common types of rent and explains a two step method to simplify the reading of a lease for management purposes.

“In our experience leasing over 5 million square feet of all types of commercial space and administering to thousands of leases, we estimate that approximately 70% of small business owners conduct their own lease negotiation and about ½ don’t ask a commercial lease lawyer to review the lease before signing it,” said Greenstead founder and certified leasing specialist, Peter Morris; “This places them at a significant disadvantage to the landlord who’s primary business is leasing space, but it is not the business of the tenant.”

To be clear Morris is adamant that small businesses have the lease reviewed by a lawyer who specializes in commercial leases; but also notes that since many small business owners negotiate the lease, it is important that they understand the steps and concepts in leasing and lease management. Morris says he is on a mission to level the negotiating field.
