Follow on Google News | SouthWest to headline Sarlat Fête de la MusiqueA rare public concert for the leading Anglo-French live band
By: SouthWest This exceptional concert will be held in the Place de la Liberté in the centre of Sarlat. Thousands of music lovers are expected at this free event, with excellent food and drink available from Jimmy’s Bar among others in the square. “I’ve always wanted to play the Sarlat Fête de la Musique,” admits British frontman Glenn Tomkins. “All I’ve needed was the right band with the right songs – which is what I have now.” Glenn has every reason to be confident. With Gérard Morandi (drums) and Thierry Deguilhem (bass), SouthWest has probably the most experienced and passionate rhythm section in Aquitaine. With the supremely versatile Eric Friboulet (guitar) and Alex Crowe (keyboard) – who also provide backing vocals – SouthWest can play virtually any song in any style. The set list for the Fête de la Musique 2015 includes songs by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Tom Jones, The Eagles, Creedance Clearwater Revival, Bryan Adams, Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, Smash Mouth, George Ezra and many more. So there is something for everyone, plus a few surprises to keep people on their toes. “Our set is designed to get people of all ages dancing,” says Glenn, who has been fronting bands for years. “We can keep going all night, but you’ve got to keep an eye on your audience. It’s really important to know when they need a rest, and when they want to let their hair down. The same goes whether they’re on a dance floor or dancing in the street.” For all those people coming to Sarlat for the Fête de la Musique 2015, SouthWest promises more than 60-something excellent songs, played the way they should be. “You won’t be disappointed.” End
