Historic Sorority to Offer Scholarships to Local High School Seniors

 
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - April 14, 2015 - PRLog -- The Orange County Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Mu Epsilon Omega, is proud to award three $1,000 scholarships to female African-American high school seniors in Orange and Los Angeles counties.

Each high school senior will receive a $1,000 scholarship towards higher education at an accredited four-year college or university of their choice. To be considered, applicants must submit a completed application, essay prompt, copy of signed transcript from their high school counselor, two letters of recommendation (from a teacher and non-relative), and have a 3.0 or better grade point average (GPA). Applicants are encouraged to review the full scholarship requirements and apply online at http://www.akameo.org/scholarship. The application deadline is May 10, 2015.

For more than 30 years, Mu Epsilon Omega has provided thousands of dollars in scholarships to high school seniors in the community, as well as significant programs and services that support and enhance the academic and social development of youth throughout the Southern California region. “We are committed to fulfilling our sorority’s motto, ‘Service to all Mankind,’” added Monteilh.
