MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - April 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Chicago, IL – IntoConcrete, the international art, design and innovation group based in Chicago, will be among a select group of exhibitors at the prestigious Maison&Objet Americas show from May 12- 15, 2015 in Miami Beach. Held twice a year in Paris, Maison&Objet is the world’s leading showcase for design and décor professionals. This year’s first-ever show in the United States will bring together an exclusive group of exhibitors with acclaimed design and interior professionals from North and Latin America.

“We at IntoConcrete are thrilled to be a part of this elite group of carefully selected exhibitors,” noted Company Founder Mario Guagnelli. “For this historic event, we are showcasing some of our favorite works created for us by Francisco Corvi along with new pieces created for IntoConcrete by award-winning industrial designer Mikaela Dörfel. IntoConcrete brings design trends to North America through high-energy collaborations with renowned designers from around the world.”

Argentinian-born industrial designer Francisco Corvi is thrilled to see his works represented. “This is a wonderful opportunity for a young designer to attend M&O and to have my pieces shown in this historic setting,” he said. The young designer’s Corvi Concrete Wine Cooler already has attracted the attention of influential blogs and websites such as Forbes, Bloomberg, Design Milk and Contemporist as has been seen in Food & Wine magazine. This innovative and functional work of art elevates wine storage to a chic new level.

Originally from Finland, Mikaela Dörfel now resides in Hamburg, Germany where she studied industrial design at Hochschule für Bildende Künste. For 15+ years Mikaela and her team have developed tableware for brands across Europe, Asia and America. Mikaela’s collection at IntoConcrete will feature a unique collection of housewares and furniture that combine high performance concretes with other traditional materials, such as ceramics. All works are in harmony with Mikaela’s design approach, which is inspired by nature and Scandinavian design.

Regarding her collaboration with IntoConcrete, Mikaela stated, “I am excited to work in concrete, which I find endlessly fascinating. I have worked a great deal with porcelain and fine glass, but applying concrete to living accessories means thinking in a different way.”
