BROOKLYN, N.Y. - April 10, 2015 - PRLog -- WILLIAMSBURG BROOKLYN, NY — The Architecture of Tomorrow Project Salon’s (AOTps) first benefit will happen on the evening of April 22, 2015 at 8pm at the Salon’s home in Williamsburg—159 Hope Street. The benefit will create the seed funding for an Artist-in-Residence Program in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Lottery tickets will be priced at an affordable $25 each and will also be available to purchase online. Buyers can purchase as many tickets as they wish for each individual work. Drawings will happen over the course of the evening. The lottery format presents the opportunity for new and seasoned collectors to obtain works from notable artists, for a steal!A crowdfunding campaign, with a goal of $20,000, will go live that evening. Created in 2014, The AOT Project Salon is an extension of Douglas Turner’s nurturing style of inquiry, thought provoking ideas, and engaging criticism known to populate the pages of his cultural digest, The Architecture of Tomorrow and other publications. Food, wine, and music by DJ Tikka Masala will round out what will surely be a fun evening of people coming together for a great cause.

The AOTps +AIR Program will become a fiscally sponsored 501(c)(3) organization and will be open to artists at any stage of their career who are without studio space here in New York City. Studio space is at an astronomical premium across all Boroughs of New York City. AOTps +AIR believes this is an issue that requires compelling immediate action.

Confirmed artists at the time of this release: Walter Robinson, James Romberger, Lucio Pozzi, Max Estenger, Steven Van nort, Vito Desalvo, Emily Weiskopf, Craig Watson, Jackie Rines, Ian James Carr, Melinda Hackett, Lorenza Sannai, Mike Drury, Larissa Nowicki, Corinne Innis, Sarah Blakely-Cartwright, Jody Morlock, Mariko Gianna de Vos, Xavier Basabe, Mary Jones and works from private collections including a signed 1972 Salvador Dali Ready-made!  We hope to have an exhibition of 25 works.

The Residency Program will ask of the artists to participate in the forthcoming PROJECT BROWNSVILLE, an arts-based creative education initiative for teens of the Brownsville Brooklyn community. Founded by Douglas Turner and sculptor Ian James Carr, the pair are in talks with newly elected progressive Democratic State Senator Jesse E. Hamilton III, District 20 in cooperative effort to find no-cost space and funding for the program. AOTps will also launch a Podcast, an hour-long interview program featuring artists, historians, curators, critics, cultural thinkers and others whose work and ideas cross at the intersections of culture, art and the human experience.
