Follow on Google News | Nearly a Year After Renovation, ShopRite of New Milford Continues Drawing CustomersNew Milford Store Has Operated in Community For More Than Five Decades
“When the store was forced to close last winter due to storm damage, the Inserra family put a tremendous amount of resources into renovating the entire store, showing their commitment to this area,” said Rob Wilson, store manager. “The response from our customers has been great, and ShopRite from Home online shopping continues to grow in popularity as well. It’s a pleasure being part of the New Milford community. This truly is a special ‘neighbor- Many customers, including New Milford resident Connie Vassallo, remark to Wilson that the expansion and new layout has improved their shopping experience. “Customers are thrilled with the fresh sushi and our hot prepared foods, giving them ready-to-go, healthy lunch and dinner options for themselves and their families,” noted Wilson. Bergenfield resident Irene Ramos, who frequents the store, is particularly pleased with the added selection of gluten-free products. “Before the renovation, I would make a separate trip to another store to find a wider variety of gluten-free foods. Now I can pick up all the items I need right here!” said Ramos. Inserra Supermarkets is known for its commitment to the communities in which its stores are located. ShopRite of New Milford participates in the annual Partners in Caring program, spearheaded by ShopRite’s parent company Wakefern Corporation. The New Milford store’s employees have raised in excess of $6,000 and supplied the local Church of the Ascension food pantry with cart-loads of much-needed perishable items. ShopRite of New Milford also donates ice pops to the town’s Memorial Day Parade, organizes Toys for Tots drives, donates Thanksgiving turkeys to the local food bank and adopts families during the holidays. Established in 1954 by Patsy Inserra as a privately held family business, Inserra Supermarkets remains true to its roots as a family-owned grocery chain committed to serving families and children. In 1980, under the entrepreneurial guidance of the late Lawrence Inserra, the company grew to eight stores and experienced a banner year in 1981, growing to 14 stores. Today, the company owns and operates ShopRite supermarkets in Bayonne, Emerson, Fair Lawn, Hackensack, Hillsdale, Hoboken, Jersey City, Lodi, Lyndhurst, New Milford, Northvale, North Bergen, Palisades Park, Ramsey, Wayne and West Milford in New Jersey and in Rockland County, N.Y., in Garnerville, New City, Stony Point, Tallman and West Nyack, as well as a PriceRite store in Garfield.
