PRLog -- Beauty pageants no doubt have received much
criticism over the the years. It is argued that such contests reinforce the idea that girls and women should be valued primarily for their physical appearance. Remove the word
"beauty" from pageants, and the focus then is essentially a competition or interview in search of an ambassador. Many pageants have come a long way by
removing beauty as the focal point and are different than what you think. It's a pursuit of sorts, celebrating accomplished women for their professionalism, poise, education & humanitarian efforts. "These women are truly amazing, have huge hearts by volunteering, raising awareness & funds for so many charitable organizations"
. The girls you compete with become your friends, regardless of all the stereotyping about catty drama and fake personalities. "Although, it does happen from time to time, however, it's truly rare! I have seen many contestants form very strong friendships over the years, they support each other and consider themselves a sisterhood". Pageantry gives you a barrage of opportunities, giving you the spotlight to reach out about what you are passionate about. There are some well known celebrities & journalist who accredit pageants as having launched their careers. One thing for certain, making a difference and leaving a legacy seems to be the passion of so many of women who compete in pageants. "It's a day that is glamorous, fun and powerful".
