SAN FRANCISCO - April 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Talent Board (http://www.thetalentboard.org/about-the-award/), a non-profit organization focused on the promotion and elevation of the candidate experience, today announced details of its upcoming thought leadership session at the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology’s 30th Annual Conference, SIOP 2015 (http://www.siop.org/conferences/philly.aspx), being held Thursday, April 23 – Saturday, April 25 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.

Dedicated to the field of industrial and organizational (I-O) psychology, this annual event emphasizes peer-reviewed research sessions, best practices and networking opportunities with other I-O, human resources and management science professionals.

At SIOP 2015, Talent Board members will participate in a panel discussion titled, “The Candidate Experience: What Applicants Want, What Companies Need,” on Thursday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. EDT. As the founding organization of the Candidate Experience (CandE) Awards, Talent Board has spent the last four years researching candidate experience and its relevance to the success of an organization. This session marks the Talent Board’s first presentation at the SIOP conference.

Moderated by Jacqueline Carpenter, senior associate and selection scientist at SHAKER,the panelists include Ann Marie Ryan, professor at Michigan State University; Stephen G. Shearman, senior recruiter at Wal-Mart; Denise Lendino, senior selection and assessment consultant at MetLife; as well as Joseph P. Murphy, vice president at SHAKER and a member of Talent Board’s Council of Advisors and Gerry Crispin, Talent Board’s co-founder and a principal at CareerXroads.

Considering CandE Award data collected over four years, the panel will explore the complexities, challenges and opportunities for improvement in recruiting and selection processes and practices. To date, the North American CandE Award survey includes responses from 347 organizations and 169,000 job candidates. Using this information to drive the discussion, the panel will share real life experiences and provide best practice insights.

“Talent Board’s North American research indicates that recruiting practices have a very real impact on the candidate as well as the organization, and the SIOP Annual Conference is an ideal venue to share our findings,” said Crispin. “As we continue to collect information from candidates and employers and work to improve the talent acquisition process, we are eager to showcase our thought leadership at this year’s event.”
