Arizona Summit Law School Professor Receives 2015 Living History Award

Jalila Jefferson-Bullock was recognized for her contributions to The Art of Jurisprudence during the tenth anniversary of this distinctive award program.

PHOENIX - April 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Arizona Summit Law School is pleased to announce that law professor Jalila Jefferson-Bullock is a recipient of the 2015 Living History Program Award. Professor Jefferson-Bullock was honored for her extraordinary contributions to The Art of Jurisprudence in the Greater Phoenix community and celebrated for her achievements and service in the legal community.

Professor Jefferson-Bulluck joined the Summit Law in 2011, moving to Arizona from New Orleans.  Prior to joining Summit Law she was a partner with a New Orleans law firm, worked as a public defender, and worked as an associate for a law firm specilizing in class-action litigation.  Professor Jefferson-Bullock also served one term in the Louisiana State House of Representatives, where she fought for voting rights and helped rebuild areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.  She is a graduate of Harvard Law School, and earned cum laude distinction from Harvard College with an AB in English and American Literature and Language.  Professor Jefferson-Bullock also holds a Master of Arts in Humanities from the University of Chicago, with a concentration in African-American Literature and History.

This, the tenth annual Living History Awards, is a collaboration to recognize education enrichment programs. Participating organizations include the Phoenix Chapter of The Links, Inc., the Phoenix Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc., the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and Gamma Mu Boule of Phoenix. Through the Living History Program, members of the Phoenix community who excel in the areas of law, arts, sciences, education and other disciplines are recognized for their contributions to Phoenix-area youth.

"Professor Jefferson-Bullock joined Summit Law because of her interest in ensuring that more Americans have access to legal services," said Dean Shirley Mays. "Receiving this honor recognizes her on-going commitment to the cause while raising awareness for an important community need that our students, faculty and staff strive to deliver."
