Buffalo’s own Brenda W. McDuffie and Anthony C. Conte to be honored during upcoming Gala event

BUFFALO, N.Y. - April 7, 2015 - PRLog -- As Global Concepts Charter High School prepares to celebrate its Ruben Santiago-Hudson Fine Arts Center during its first annual gala celebration Friday, May 8, 2015, two of Buffalo’s own will be among those honored.

Brenda W. McDuffie, CEO of the Buffalo Urban League and Anthony C. Conte, President of Shea’s Performing Arts Center will be recognized for their commitment to the arts and education in Western New York. The two of them through their respective positions and community involvement highlight exactly what Global Concepts Charter High School stresses to its students: pursuing excellence.

Joining Global Concepts for this special evening will be award-winning actress/director and recent BET Honors honoree Phylicia Rashad who will be receiving the LEGACY AWARD. The award will be presented by none other than Ruben Santiago-Hudson himself. The MC for the event will be Erie County Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams.

The RSH Fine Arts Center is a state-of-the-art training center that houses an art studio, black box theatre, and a film/media production computer lab. Global Concepts' goal for the gala is two-fold: to showcase its students work in the areas of art, music, and theatre. Also, to raise funds to expand our community arts and the Artist-in-Residence programs.

The gala which will take place beginning at 6p.m. at the WNED Studios in Downtown Buffalo, NY. It will also feature a student art exhibit, a silent auction, performance by the Theatre Dept., dinner, performance by the Chorus and Jazz Ensemble and remarks by Mr. Santiago-Hudson and others.

Opening its doors in 2010, Global Concepts Charter High School mission is to be a top-rated educational institution, helping ensure its students' academic progress meet and exceed the State's standards. Global High School wants to be known for their innovative curriculum that prepares students academically, as well as in character, for the world of their future. This special event is just one way of honoring that mission as well as the students and community whom are benefiting from it.
