By: www.newgeneration-publishing.com M. J. Newby brings great philosophy from across the ages to all who want to reflect and change themselves and their world for the better. With powerful text and inspirational illustrations, this is an important guide on how to live well in our materialistic, consumer-driven age. What is human maturity for this global age?`is one of the most vital yet neglected question for today. Experts on childhood behaviour, education and faith are called upon to show us the way forward. `When I was young, I determined that one day I would convert the whole world to the faith. But when I was older, I hoped that I might at least convert some people. Now I am an old man, I have but one aim, to convert myself.` (Jewish Rabbi) About the Author: Dr. Mike J. Newby gained degrees at London University, taught in secondary schools in Kent and lectured for many years at Kingston Polytechnic/ Dr. Newby has three daughters and, to date, seven grandchildren. This work is a far-reaching development arising from his first book which is entitled Eudaimonia: Happiness is not Enough. Excerpt from the book: “The most unperceived yet destructive force amongst so-called developed societies at the present time is not itself the pollution they cause, neither is it the ruthless consumption of resources, nor prejudice and hatred, and not even the inexcusable social inequalities, crippling though these may be. Underlying them all is the relentless spread of superficiality amongst peoples of the developed world. In societies boasting universal education, the deep and most important issues of our lives are rarely taken with any serious urgency and certainly make little difference to us even when attention is given to them. `Developed` humanity appears to be giving up on them. This is a powerful mark of our continued immaturity as adults. Superficiality easily strangles whatever education we might have received, showing us to be lovers of ease, pleasure, money, excitement and popularity, all without knowing, or at least caring much, what we are about as we dwell on the planet. In turn the development of our children is suffering. This may be, on balance, too dark a picture, for hopes remain that we may extricate ourselves both personally, communally, and as a global society. Without personal change, the community has less hope, and without communal change, the world has less hope. The key to change for the better begins with family and school life. In short, when we think carefully, it is too often for self-interested reasons, without concern for the widest and longest term effects of our choices.” ON MATURITY is currently available in paperback from: www.amazon.co.uk/ This book can also be downloaded in e-book format from: www.amazon.co.uk/ Press/Media Contact Details: New Generation Publishing Tel. 01234 712 064 E-mail: info@newgeneration- End
