NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - April 3, 2015 - PRLog -- North Miami Beach, Fla. - The J's Cultural Arts Theatre winds up its eighth season with Around the World with Cinderella, written by Lowell Swortzell and Lillian Freeman, directed by Michael Andron. There are over 350 'Cinderella' stories from various cultures around the world. The Cinderella that you know best, in the classic style of Perrault (1697), Grimm (1825), and Disney (1950), will host four of those stories: Chinese, Russian, Native American, and Jewish versions. According to Andron, it is a sense of magic that ties all of these stories together.

"Whether it be via fairy godmother, Elijah the Prophet, or an invisible warrior," Andron said, "there is a magical essence that gives the girl what she positively deserves in each story."

Andron also highlights the universal theme of a girl who had some really tough breaks and keeps her spirit alive. "Throughout human history, we've seen that maintaining your dreams is a tough and necessary thing," he said. "Cinderella teaches us this lesson."

For all their similarities, each story told is unique and riveting.

The Chinese Cinderella, Plum Blossom, will be staged with 'invisible' on-stage tech/actors and animal costumes, including a traditional Chinese lion dance. The story from the Mic-Mac tribe of the Algonquin nation will have a completely different look, and the Russian version includes a witch that lives in a house that can fly.

Although the youth production includes actors in grades three through 12, audience members of all ages will enjoy the production, according to Andron.

"Little kids always want to hear stories again, but the fun thing about this one is you won't get bored because they're all different," Andron said. " With incredible costumes by Carole Barou-Mootoo and exciting plots, this show has really special points that adults might even enjoy more than the kids."

Around the World with Cinderella will run Wednesday, April 29th through Sunday, May 17th, with weekday showtimes at 7 pm and Sunday showtimes at 12 pm and 4 pm, 18900 NE 25th Avenue, North Miami Beach, FL 33180. General tickets are $20; student and senior tickets are $12. For tickets or more information, visit www.jcctheatre.com or call 866.811.4111. For press photos or fliers, contact jcat@marjcc.org.
