LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - April 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Nicknamed “The Balay Lama,” Candy Shaw literally grew up in the beauty industry and has over 30 years of hairdressing experience. She is considered one of the world’s top stylists like her father, Jamison Shaw, the first American to win hairdressing’s World Championships, and she has a background in makeup as the daughter of makeup artist Sara Shaw. In 1999 Candy became the owner of Jamison Shaw Hairdressers®, a 50-year-young, third-generation, family-owned and operated salon business and is the company’s chairperson and chief executive officer. She also works behind the chair full time, seeing up to 35 clients per day.

Candy has served on the board of directors of Intercoiffure America-Canada and was also the organization’s Atelier chairperson in charge of producing and emceeing Intercoiffure’s North American shows. In 2005, she received Intercoiffure’s Adolf Biecker Award of Excellence in recognition of her contributions to the beauty industry and in 2006 she was named Personality of the Year by Intercoiffure Mondial (the international chapter).

In 1996, Candy founded Jamison Shaw Advanced Hairdressing Systems, Inc., (JSAHS), an advanced training academy specializing in teaching French cutting and balayage highlighting techniques. In 2014, she launched a new product line called Sunlights Balayage, Inc.

Candy’s work regularly appears in trade and consumer magazines, and she has shot collections and appeared in shows and seminars around the world. Citing her immense volume of work, the Global Media Group named her “One of the World’s Ten Most Published Stylists.” She has also made numerous radio and television appearances and has done hair for the Grammys, the American Country Music Awards, and a Playboy Mansion soiree.

Some of Candy’s celebrity clientele include Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Karina Smirnoff, Playboy Playmate of the Year Tiffany Fallon, Rascal Flatts’ Joe Don Rooney, legal eagle Nancy Grace, and Todd Chrisley (Chrisley Knows Best), to name a few. Jamison Shaw Hairdressers has also been the official salon of the Atlanta Falcons (NFL), Atlanta Hawks (NBA), and Atlanta Thrashers (NHL) cheerleaders.

Industry publications routinely recognize Jamison Shaw for its philanthropic efforts. Candy has served on the administrative board of her church and is a founding member of You Can Make a Difference, a nonprofit focusing on the beauty industry’s fight against skin cancer.

Interviewed by Winn Claybaugh, Candy shares her passion for working behind the chair (serving 35 clients per day!) and her thoughts on being a world-renowned educator, the balance of working with family, and more.
