American Ambulance Association Recognizes 80+ “Stars”

At Annual Celebration Of Unsung Community Heroes On April 13-15th in Washington, D.C.

MCLEAN, Va. - April 2, 2015 - PRLog -- McLean, VA (April 2, 2015) - The American Ambulance Association (AAA) will honor its 2015 class of more than eighty Stars of Life nominees over 3 days (full agenda (http://www.the-aaa.org/default.asp?contentID=618)) in the Nation’s capital with a celebration, education and advocacy. This one of a kind event honors the dedication of ambulance and emergency medical services professionals — those remarkable individuals that stand out and represent excellence in every area of the industry. A community of the unsung, often inconspicuous in their heroism and commitment to the communities they serve. They are extraordinary men and women that make a difference every day. The American Ambulance Association represents organizations serving more than 75% of the U.S. population with emergency and non-emergency care and medical transportation services. Each year they host the Stars of Life event in Washington, D.C. to publicly recognize and celebrate the achievements of their members.  Mike Hall, AAA President, stated, “These men and women of EMS are serving their communities, every day and at every hour, by providing vital medical care in emergency situations. When someone dials 911, there are a number of highly trained professionals ready to respond with excellent emergency medical and pre-hospital care.”

Past Stars of Lifehave included heroic individuals involved with the response to September 11th, Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy, and other National Disasters.  “However,” Hall notes, “all of our stars have performed a duty equally important to the communities they serve and hold this event to honor their everyday efforts.”

On the evening of Tuesday, April 14th, AAA will present the Stars with their commemorative framed medal at a special banquet at the Washington Court Hotel. In addition, Representative Greg Walden (R-OR) will be honored with a Legislator of the Year Award for his dedication to issues of importance to ambulance services.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Stars and their hosts will visit Capitol Hill to discuss legislative issues critical to the ambulance industry such as H.R. 745 and S. 377: Medicare Ambulance Access, Fraud Prevention, and Reform Act and push for an extension of temporary Medicare ambulance increases within the SGR repeal package recently passed by the House. They will also present 9 Senators and 14 Representatives with their AAA Legislative Recognition Award for support of key ambulance issues and legislation.
