TalkingWithHeroes.com to Host Live Webcasts at World T.E.A.M. Sports' Face of America

National non-profit World T.E.A.M. Sports' April 24-26 Face of America bicycle and hand cycle ride with injured veterans will feature multiple live webcasts with Bob Calvert and TalkingWithHeroes.com.

ARLINGTON, Va. - April 1, 2015 - PRLog -- TalkingWithHeroes.com host Bob Calvert announced today that he will produce live webcasts at World T.E.A.M. Sports’ April 24-26 Face of America bicycle and hand cycle ride from the Pentagon to historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

The successful host will travel to Arlington from his studio in Colorado Springs for the webcasts. These programs will feature participating Face of America athletes, including veterans who were injured in active duty from Vietnam through Afghanistan and Iraq.

“We will start Friday while people are registering, doing short video talk show events,” said Calvert. “These men and women coming in groups can all come up to the camera and we will produce a program for them and their group. Individuals can come on camera and talk about themselves, their service to our country and why they are at Face of America.”

The son of a World War II Navy veteran, Calvert’s brother served with the Air Force before reenlisting with the Army. His daughter also saw service with the Army. Through Calvert’s association with military personnel, he decided to do something in support of his country and for to help those who enlisted.

“One [soldier] was stationed at Ft Bragg,” Calvert recalled. “One day, he said to me that if I really wanted to help men and women who were serving, I should consider creating a talk show.”

Launching TalkingWithHeroes.com in December 2005, Calvert said he has produced more than 400 programs to date. He has produced live remote webcasts in the past, including programs from Iraq and Afghanistan. From 2006 through 2011, Calvert traveled five times to Iraq and three times to Afghanistan, where he featured military personnel on his webcast.

YouTube has also been an important media outlet for the program, with more than 270,000 views for more than 400 videos. Partners Andy and Ryan LaPointe will also attend Face of America, creating videos documenting the ride.

“My goal is to evolve TalkingWithHeroes.com into a network of military support and veterans support audio and video programs across the country,” explained Calvert. “We now promote three programs in addition to our regular program: Health and Wellness Show, Lifestyle and Entrepreneurship Show and and MamaWearsCombatBoots, hosted by Iraq veteran Kalen Arreola.”

A supporter and partner of the non-profit R4 Alliance, of which World T.E.A.M. Sports is a member, Calvert has featured more than 30 military support groups in TalkingWithHeroes.com programs. “I have heard testimonies from veterans who were close to suicide when they went to one of the R4Alliance member retreats,” Calvert reports. “These events literally saved their lives.”

In the last few years, six surgeries have restricted Calvert’s travel. Yet, he is excited at the prospect of attending Face of America and meeting and talking with some of the more than 140 injured veterans who have registered to ride the inclusive two-day, 110-mile ride.

“I was told many times over the years that media mainly does not cover the positive stories and progress and how our men and women helped the people in the countries they served. I kind of filled that gap.”

The 2015 Face of America Ride is supported through sponsorships from Capital One Bank, American Portfolios Financial Services, Booz Allen Hamilton, Benson Botsford LLC, BODYARMOR, Brioni, CA Technologies, Deven’s Recycling, DuPont Fabros Technology, Fidelity & Guaranty Life, Freshbikes, General Electric, Lerch, Early & Brewer, Penske Truck Rental, Sila Solutions Group, SUBWAY of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Three Wire Systems LLC, U.S. Silica, Vedder Price, Veterans Corps of America and Xtiva Financial Systems.
