Concert Series Concludes with Winthrop University World Percussion Ensemble

 
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - April 1, 2015 - PRLog -- African and the Middle Eastern drums highlight the Gaudium Musicae concert season finale on Sunday, April 26, at 4 p.m., at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road, Charlotte. The Winthrop University World Percussion Ensemble will play djembe hand drums from Guinea and Mali as well as North African and Middle Eastern frame drums, Ewe barrel drums and Dagbamba “talking drums” from Ghana, and mbira dzavadzimu from Zimbabwe. The award-winning group is led by Winthrop distinguished Professor B. Michael Williams.

The audience is invited to meet the performers at a reception immediately following the show and included in the ticket price.

Tickets are $30 for families, $12 for adults, $8 for students; no charge for children 12 years old or under. Tickets may be purchased online at www.StAnnCharlotte.org or at the St. Ann’s parish office. Any remaining tickets for the concert will be sold at the door.  For more information, call 704-523-4641.
