James Goetz New Jersey Competitive Food Eater

April 1, 2015 - PRLog -- JAMES GOETZ NEW JERSEY BECOMES COMPETITIVE FOOD EATER

Competitive food eating has evolved over the years from a pseudo-underground activity to pseudo-underground sport.  Kobayashi helped grow the sport by winning. Nathans Hot Dog Championships in a row, becoming known as the Babe Ruth of competitive eating. As of recent, Joey Chestnut has become the top competitive food eater since knocking off Kobioshi last year.
Over the past few years, James Goetz (New Jersey) has thrown the hat into the competitive food-eating world.

At seven percent body fat, one would not think James Goetz New Jersey could eat as much as he does. Goetz has been an avid athlete and recalls beginning his days of working out as for back as fourth grade. Pushups, sit-ups, pull-ups and distance running are where it all began. “I do not recall why I began to workout, but it was fun,” Goetz says.  Fat metabolism combined with excessive amount of calories burned is most likely why Goetz is able to eat so much and remain lean.

Competitive food eating is about eating large sums of food in a very short amount of time. 70 hot dogs in ten minutes means one must eat more than one hot dog every ten seconds for ten minutes. Most people are unable to eat one bite of a hotdog in ten seconds, let alone consume more than one entire hot dog plus ten.

During this time period, this is what intrigued Goetz. James Goetz New Jersey has the ability to become a ranked professional food eater, but does he have the drive? The Joey Chestnuts of the world practice daily. These guys consume tens of pounds of food daily in order to practice fast movements of food to the mouth. They practice moving food through their throat to their stomachs as fast as possible. They practice increasing the volume of their stomach, as well as keeping the food in their stomach for the duration of the competition.

James Goetz New Jersey certainly has the skills of being able to eat large portions of food. Goetz also has quite a competitive spirit, which gives him a bit of an edge over other rookies in the sport. Goetz has a stomach for trying new foods and a drive to succeed unlike any other.

In 2008, James Goetz New Jersey went to Quaker Steak Lube in St Petersburg, Florida, for the purpose of conquering their hot wing challenge. The wings are heated to 5,000,000btu. The challenge is to consume six of the hot wings within a five-minute period of time. The challenger must clean all meat off of the bone and cannot throw up. If the challenger should prove victorious, their name shall forever be enshrined on the wall of the St. Petersburg Quaker Steak AND Lube. Challengers must sign a waiver and are reminded not to touch anything with their fingers as they may burn themselves due to the extreme temperature of the wing sauce.

As the challenge hot wings came out of the kitchen, all heads of the busy Florida restaurant turned towards the extreme pepper sauce. The six hot wings stared Goetz in the face and Goetz stared right back at them. After the first bite, beads of sweat began to tear down the face of James Goetz’s strategy quickly formed as the waitress flew into the kitchen, grabbing a container of whole milk. Goetz took two minutes to tear the meat off the bones before finishing off the challenge.

While the story of a hero would now state the James Goetz New Jersey stood up gloriously and accepted a thunderous applause of appreciation, in reality, Goetz downed the milk and washed his mouth out with soap in the St. Petersburg restaurant. With that being said, James Goetz New Jersey will live in Florida glory with his name proudly displayed on the wall of Quaker Steak n Lube.

At this point, James Goetz New Jersey would still be considered in the minor leagues of competitive food eating. While still destroying the Florida buffets, he would not encounter any new challenges or competitions until he returned to his New Jersey Shore roots.

Carmen’s Pizzeria in Neptune, New Jersey is more commonly known by the name of the bar attached to it, Pete and Elda’s. During the summer months, this Jersey Shore hot spot often has a waiting list for multiple hours; fortunately, the locals can experience this hot spot all year round.

The thin crust pizza is delicious and the XL pizza challenge, is a favorite of many, including James Goetz New Jersey. The prize is a t-shirt, which changes seasonally. James Goetz may have conquered a couple dozen times by now. Even Goetz’s wife, Chantey Goetz New Jersey, has conquered. It’s just a fun challenge and a fun way to get a t-shirt.

The television show made popular by Adam Richmond, Man vs. Food, featured Hoffman’s Ice Cream Parlor, brought James Goetz New Jersey-to-Jersey Shore Legend status, well sort of.  The octopus challenge is eight large scoops of ice cream, and eight toppings to be consumed in eight minutes.  By minute six, Goetz finished most of the octopus. Accompanied by wife Chantea Goetz, he calmly broke into conversation with the summer time onlookers. The official judge, of the challenge, called out ‘”sixty seconds”. Chantea Goetz exclaimed, “EAT”! James Goetz broke into the flash of ice cream eating and finished with ten seconds remaining on the clock. He stood up to an ovation and with a freezer burnt mouth and what he said felt like diabetic shock, had his photo taken to grace the New Jersey Wall of Fame.

While challenges are fun, competitions are when glory if found. In 2013, James Goetz qualified for the wing eating competition at the Court Jester in Aberdeen, NJ.

This would be Goetz’s first professional competition. Twelve competitors qualified for the Super bowl halftime event, sponsored by Coors. There was a tense atmosphere. The contestant who eats more wings in five minutes wins. After five minutes, Goetz had consumed 26 wings. The next highest was 23. Goetz wins? Unfortunately, the second judge said Goetz did not clean enough meat off of the bones and lowered his total to 13.

The sportsman James Goetz is, he gracefully shook the winners hand and went home with his wife, Chantea.

During the spring of 2014, Taco Loco of Fairfield, Connecticut held their annual taco-eating contest during Cinco de Mayo. In the five-minute contest time, Goetz consumed ten tacos and finished second to the winner who had fifteen. Goetz stated, “I am a bit disappointed and quite humbled. While I practiced with heard shells, it is no excuse to not be ready for today’s soft shell”.

While Goetz has not hit his stride as of yet, he has shown he has an appreciation for this sport. James Goetz is still in search of his first professional victory but it appears he will most likely to attain it soon. With more practice and experience. Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Championships may be in the cards for Goetz. Who knows? Either way, it appears he is having fun!
