DC Scientist Turned Children’s Wear Designer Launches Local Collection in Stores

WASHINGTON - March 31, 2015 - PRLog -- Local forensic scientist turned dress designer, Kelly Starr, announced today the in-store launch of Darling Betty and Darling Betty Southern Belles, a collection of vintage inspired dresses and skirts for young girls. Little Birdies Boutique in Georgetown, and The Purple Goose in Alexandria, are the DMV’s exclusive retailers for the Spring 2015 collection.

“Darling Betty and Darling Betty Southern Belles were created to bring my love of vintage fashion to young girls who love to twirl around playing dress up. They are designed to be worn, loved, and passed down through generations because classic fashion never goes out of style,” said Starr.

Headquartered in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Darling Betty takes a unique approach to designing their clothing. Everything is done by hand with muslin copies made to ensure proper fit before the dresses/skirts are cut and sewed. The designs are original patterns intended to float, twirl, and move with their enthusiastic wearers. Darling Betty dresses are made of 100 percent cotton and feature fun prints such as cherries, cupcakes, Scotty dogs, rick rac trim, polka dots and bows.

Darling Betty Southern Belles is an exclusive collection of seersucker and gingham patterns in bright sunny colors like lime, yellow, pink and purple. The dresses are perfect for parties, weddings, church, Easter Sunday and only available in stores.
