Maestro Dr. Yesudas returns to Hindi Playback singing after 20 years

BANGALORE, India - March 31, 2015 - PRLog -- Legendary Singer & seven times National Award Winner Dr. K. J. Yesudas, one of the famed Indian classical musicians and a renowned playback singer has returned to Hindi play back singing after 20 long years with the award winning feature film ‘Barefoot to Goa’ a saga of two children on their journey to Goa to meet their grandmother. The feature film is set to an All India release in the second week of April.

A drama by Director Praveen Morchhale, composed by Rohit Sharma, the song, “Naina Do Nyare”, is inspired by Dr Yesudas’ famous song “Surmayee Akhiyon Mein” from the Kamal Hassan & Sridevi film, SADMA.  The song took four hours to complete and was recorded recently at AR Rahman Studios in Chennai. The Cultural Ambassador of India much inspired by the story of “Barefoot to Goa” has returned to playback singing.

“After listening to the story and seeing the trailer I decided to sing this song, said Shri Yesudas. The beautiful song composed by Rohit takes me back to my old days and reminds me of my journey in the music world” he further added. The song “Do Naina” is an emotional tribute to the relationship between a mother and her child.

The much awarded multilingual famed singer’s contribution in promoting Indian music is immense and his songs stand out not just for the melody but also for the versatility and style and continue to spin magic with his melodious voice. He has sung popular film songs, classical, carnatic and devotional songs.

“I was fascinated by his music and missed him and his voice in Bollywood for 20 long years, I didn’t want to let go of the opportunity of bringing him back through my feature film”, said Praveen Morchhale, Director, Barefoot to Goa. When we first approached Shri Yesudas, we were not really sure about him singing for us; but once he came to know our movie and the song, he was very glad to sing for our movie and I am happy and privileged that his soulful voice shall be heard again in Hindi Cinema through our movie. .”

The film is about two children who travel from Mumbai to Goa to bring home back their grandmother who has cancer and is neglected by parents. It’s a parable on the moribund human bonds in a cinematic essay that celebrates the innocence of the young, mocks the indifference of the adults and mourns the loneliness of the old. The film comes as calmness in chaos.
