Spine Pain Elimination Project Kicks Off In TucsonGrand Opening of the Spine & Athlete Performance Center Today
The American Physical Therapy Association reports that at any given time, close to 25% of people in the United States report some form of low back pain within the past 3 months. The National Institute of Health estimates that about 80 percent of adults experience low back pain at some point during their lives. Low back pain is the most common cause of job-related disability and missing work days. Along with the opening of their fourth Tucson location, the locally owned and operated company announces the Spine Pain Elimination Project. The focus of this program is to get people with back and neck pain into physical therapy faster, get them out of pain sooner and prevent the need for pain medication or surgical intervention in as many cases as possible. “This is a project that we have been working on for some time. Research shows that if we can get patients into physical therapy within two weeks from the onset of pain, we have a much better chance at eliminating the possibility of chronic pain and disability,” “We plan to work with local physicians, health care providers, and health networks to expedite the referral process and educate the public on the importance of early treatment,” Co-Founder Dr. Jennifer Allen adds. “We have the tools to make a difference, and engaging the medical community and patients is the first step. We used to have patients rest after injury- which we have discovered makes the condition worse. The earlier we can get people moving, the better chance for a full recovery.” About BODYCENTRAL PHYSICAL THERAPY Bodycentral Physical Therapy is a locally-owned physical therapy company based in Tucson, Arizona.
