BMW Foundation, Adessium Foundation, Omidyar Network with EU Support Venture Philanthropy Meeting

NEW YORK - April 3, 2015 - PRLog -- Members of the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA) who are based in Belgium as well as those outside Belgium but have an interest in the Belgian market  converged in Belgium for the first Belgian Country Meeting. This premiere one-day event was organized by EVPA and took place on March 31, 2015 at the AXA Corporate Responsibility in Belgium. The focus of this Country Meeting was to encourage and support local development of venture philanthropy. EVPA members shared experiences and networked, while  non-members had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge on Belgium's current business landscape.

The agenda for this Country Meeting featured EVPA members sessions during morning hours and afternoon sessions that were open to non-EVPA members. The day’s agenda was covered from 8.30am to 5.30pm. Attendees were  treated to a coffee reception before the welcome addresses were delivered by EVPA's CEO Kurt Peleman and AXA Corporate Responsibility and Affairs Manager, Dina Iosifidis at 9.00am. After the welcome remarks, meeting attendees  participated in a discussion aimed at deepening their understanding on who their fellow EVPA member participants were.

The moderated session  explored who were the EVPA participants present, and what they do. Discussions in this session  explored how EVPA members can work together towards increasing resources for Belgium's venture philanthropy. The participants sought to answer the question, "How can EVPA help?" during the morning session. After a networking break, EVPA members  participated in a session that encouraged them to reflect on past performances as they explored the critical topic on "Learning from Failures". Later, the attendees  explored ways of building policy making bridges across EU countries in a session that focused on "EVPA Policy Dimension".

The afternoon session was open to non-EVPA members. It l featured sessions that focus on "EVPA and VP Fundamentals" and "Approaches of Practising Venture Philanthropy" highlighting stories from the field. The agenda also included a Question and Answer session. An evaluation was conducted towards the end of this event before guests networked over drinks.
