LONDON - March 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Co-Directed By Donald W. Harper and Damien Morgan

Sandshore Arts Limited announced today that principal photography will begin on the 18th of April on  the “Women In Reggae: the UK perspective”. The film is a documentary project centred around the lives and accomplishments of pioneering women in the UK reggae industry. The film will feature luminaries such as Janet Kay, JC Lodge, Sylvia Tella and several others. Filming will take place in London and other selected cities in the UK, with the film set for release early 2016.

“We believe these female artists, who have contributed so much to the British musical culture and beyond, have unique stories that have largely gone untold. We are really excited to learn more about their experiences and we can’t wait to kick this off,” said Harper.

The documentary will take the form of an up close and personal look at the lives and experiences of up to twelve female performers who were born in the UK during the 1950s and 1960s. The project anticipates following the international rise of reggae and lovers rock genres during this era.

Supporting Harper behind the scenes, will be a creative team that includes Co Director Damien Morgan of Dynamexx Enterprise (“HIP-HOP HAD A DREAM”) and Associate Producer, Yasmin Alexander. Harper, who is a music veteran with over 25 years of experience working with various Jamaican artists, is also the Executive Producer for the film.
