“Sleeping With The Enemy” Contest Offers $1,000 Prize

PHOENIX - March 27, 2015 - PRLog -- PHOENIX, Ariz. –March 27, 2015 – Valley do-it-yourself pest and weed control retailer, Bug & Weed Mart will host a Facebook Contest boasting a grand prize of $1,000.  Store owner, Jim LaBrie is looking to raise awareness to help prevent the spread of bed bugs.

“Bed bugs are one of the most common problems we see and one of the most difficult to get rid of,” explains LaBrie. “When left untreated, it is also the fastest spreading.”

LaBrie is asking participants to submit a brief (250 words or less) written description of their encounter with bed bugs accompanied by a photo or video to share. The recount can be of an experience at home or while travelling. The photo should provide an up-close look at the actual bed bugs, or participants can share a video that reenacts the encounter or tells the story. Contestants are encouraged to make their entries creative and compelling.

The contest is open to Maricopa County residents 18 years of age or older, who are not employees of landscaping or pest control companies and have not been a previous Bug & Weed Mart contest winner. Entries will be accepted from April 22 until midnight Wednesday, May 6, 2015.

“We’ve been in the DIY pest control business for 35 years and in the last five we haven’t had a day where at least one customer comes through our doors or calls with a bed bug story issue,” LaBrie said. “We hope this contest can help prevent this unwanted epidemic.”

Submissions should be emailed to contest@bugweedmart.com. The written description should be typed in the body of the email, and include a photo or video. Videos can be a link or an MP4 file, and photos can be embedded or attached. No fees or purchases are required to participate.

Once the submission is received, Bug & Weed Mart will review and upload entries to Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/bugandweedmarttempe). An email confirmation will be sent to participants with the link to the social media posts, they are then encouraged to share their story’s post with family and friends. The entries with the most likes will be selected as finalists. Finalists will be reviewed by the Bug & Weed Mart owners, who will determine the winner. The grand prize winner will be announced May 13, 2015 and awarded $1,000.
