By: DAV Flight Team Matthew Austin followed his father and grandfather’ Following his time in the Army, Mr. Austin returned home, married, and followed his love of football to the University of Alabama where he is in his final year in his Communications and Business studies. He currently is working for the DAV at the Department of Veteran Services on University of Alabama campus in Tuscaloosa, AL. “The DAV is an elite group who take care of veterans and their families. I have really enjoyed helping and advising my fellow veterans with their disability claims and hope that I have made a difference for them the way DAV has for me. My heroes are the men and women I’ve served beside in our armed forces who bravely sacrificed for our country. They are out there fighting for our right to be here today enjoying things like this air show. All of those men and women gave some…and some gave all,” said Austin. Matthew Austin proudly joins the DAV Flight Team at the Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show alongside the B-25 “Panchito” The DAV Flight Team is an aviation outreach program on a nationwide airshow circuit to promote the services DAV provides to injured veterans and their family members. DAV (Disabled American Veterans), representing more than 1.2 million disabled veterans, is a non-profit organization founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932.
