Their goal is to raise $10,000 to make up for funding that was unexpectedly lost prior to the opening of their second clinic in Vic West and engage with your community and supporters in a unique way. Achieving their fundraising goal will allow them to complete the final renovations, obtain proper advertising and be open full time to serve their community. As a social enterprise, Stillpoint Community Acupuncture reinvests the profits they make into their clinc's, community and people. After being open in Langford for three and a half years, the decision was made to expand their services. A location in Vic West was secured and renovations began on their second clinic. Soon after the decision was made, a significant amount of their funding unexpectedly fell through. Owner, Jean-Paul Thuot says "the reasons for this are no one's fault. These things happen in business sometimes, and we have been doing our best to roll with them" Despite the set back, the Victoria community came together and supported Thuot in opening the doors of the second clinic, but the funding gap remained. "We still need signage, and there are renovations still waiting. Most importantly though, the community is asking us to expand our hours, and at this point we just aren't able to afford to do that." says Thuot. Starting April 1st, Stillpoint will be hosting a month long crowdfunding campaign on the popular fundraising site, Indiegogo. The campaign will offer patrons unique incentives for their contributions. "Our aim is not to raise the funds we need to serve our community effectivly, but to engage our patients, community and supports in a really fun and unique way," Says office manager Kate Zealand. Stillpoint's Indiegogo campaign will allow supporters to submit online donations using PayPal or Credit Card. The clinic maintains their tongue in cheek tone that their patients and community have come to expect, by offering a wide range of unique incentives to their supporters. A five dollar donation will reward you with unlimited high fives, where as a $250 contribution will provide you with a "unicorn" and a week of unlimited acupuncture treatments. "We take what we do very seriously, but we certainly don't take ourselves seriously" says Jenica Geisler, the other acupuncturist at Stillpoint. The crowdfunding campaign will be hosted on the site Indiegogo, and will run from April 1st to April 30th. Stillpoint Community charges on a sliding scale of $20-50 for treatments, where people pay what they want, with no questions asked. Acupuncture has been a designated health profession in Canada under the Health Professions Act since April 1, 1996. In the three years since Stillpoint opened their doors in Langford they have provided over 15,000 treatments. Community Acupuncture is safe, effective, and natural. Treatments occur in one large room, where everyone sits quietly in comfortable reclining chairs with their sleeves and pant legs rolled up enjoying the calming and healing atmosphere during their treatment.
