Follow on Google News | Adelphi University’s Performing Arts Center Presents Hopper: A New MusicalDepartment of Theatre students perform associate professor Anton Dudley and recording artist Jonatha Brooke’s contemporary re-imagining of Grimm’s The Frog Prince
A contemporary re-imagining of Grimm’s The Frog Prince, the musical takes place on Halloween in Salem, Massachusetts. Hopper is a teenage boy cursed with poor hygiene; Lily is a teenage girl on the verge of becoming a woman. Infused with a pop-rock score, Hopper is the story of two disparate teens trying to navigate the road of adolescence without any clear guide but their own hearts. This world premiere musical marks an exciting collaboration between Adelphi’s Creative Writing and Theatre Departments, bringing together students and prominent industry professionals to develop new work for the stage.
