Follow on Google News | POP.EARTH 2nd Annual Spring Gatsby GalaMoney Raised Benefits Children with Autism and Special Needs
Every year we choose a different person to receive the Pop.Earth “OM Award”. We consider all who have given their time and support to Pop.Earth. The OM Award originated to recognize individuals who go above and beyond to assist those with special needs. Their selfless acts and service to others we felt deserved an acknowledgement. This year’s 2015 OM Award Recipient is Eileen Hoberg. Debbie Stone, the Founder and Creative Director of Pop.Earth states, “Eileen made the connection with Special Needs PAL and Pop.Earth possible. She worked tirelessly to get a host space and comes to every class to spend time with the kids. Eileen believes in our programs and sees the benefits of bringing them to the autistic population”. Debbie points out that many of the PAL’S participants are non-verbal.” This is the first year Pop.Earth is offering a Junior OM Award. It will go to siblings, William and Erin Doherty. The twins are fourteen years old and currently volunteer at the “OM for Autism” yoga classes in Merrick, NY. William and Erin take the time to work with the young adults with Autism and make them feel included and accepted. "Children with autism deserve to live rewarding and enriching lives” states Pop Earth’s Founder, Debbie Stone, “It's our mission to help them accomplish that. They deserve love and understanding and it is our goal to provide that.” The money raised last year allowed us to extend our reach to Colorado, increase OM for Autism yoga classes, update our logo and website to include our Pop.Shop, and gave us the opportunity to create E.Q.U.A.L for Autism and “Eat-able” Debbie states, “I invite everyone to come enjoy a spectacular night out to benefit those with Autism and meet the dynamic people behind Pop.Earth.” By attending this year’s gala, YOU will have the opportunity to see how Pop.Earth, its programs and staff work to improve the quality of life for those with Autism and Developmental Disabilities."
