BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - March 25, 2015 - PRLog -- (BONITA SPRINGS, FL)Bonita Springs Assistance Office (http://www.bonitaassistance.org/) (BSAO) is actively collecting food from seasonal residents who may be heading back north for the summer for the Choice Food Pantry at BSAO. Every year thousands of northerners travel home for the summer throwing away food that could go to those in need in the Bonita Springs area. Foods that can be donated include canned goods of all kinds, as well as dry goods such as rice, pasta and beans.  Unopened toiletries are also appreciated.

“We encourage seasonal residents to provide a hand up, while cleaning out their kitchens,” said Marjorie Kasell-Johnson, President and Executive Director of BSAO. “Our Choice Food Pantry allows clients to select the foods best for their families’ needs and likes and we always appreciate the generosity of our neighbors in Bonita Springs who help make this possible.” Food can be brought to 25300 Bernwood Dr., Unit 6, Bonita Springs, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm.

BSAO was the first agency in South Lee County to offer the most complete Choice Food Pantry, allowing families and individuals do their own grocery selection according to their needs, eating habits and health conditions. The pantry provides canned food, fresh produce, dairy, baked items, frozen meats, and toiletries and diapers. BSAO also partners with United Way of Lee County and Harry Chapin Food Bank to organize monthly food distributions via mobile pantries during the summer months.

Bonita Springs Assistance Office, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, has served the greater Bonita Springs, FL area since 1979. BSAO’s goal is to help ordinary people who have encountered a temporary financial hardship, pay for expenses such as rent, mortgage, utilities, clothing, food, or health needs. The goal is to foster independence and self-reliance through education and by bridging the financial needs of the recipients.

In addition to the food pantry, BSAO provides money management classes and referrals to other social service organizations who may be better served in answering the clients’ needs. Bonita Springs Assistance Office is a United Way partner agency. For more information, call 239-992-3034.
