KENT, Ohio - March 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Four College of Business Administration students will participate in the Van Berkom JMSP Small-Cap Case Competition on March 20 and 21 in Montreal, Canada.

Students Fathi Hammami, Tom Dlugo, Akanksha Singh and Dante Pantalone will participate in the competition. Three team coaches from the College of Business Administration’s Finance Department will be assisting students during the case competition, including Associate Professor David Dumpe, Ph. D., Department Chair Steve Dennis, Ph. D. and Assistant Professor Andrei Shynkevich, Ph. D. Students competing will gain experience in their chosen field and have the opportunity to expand their professional networks.

“The Finance Department is very proud of our team. Our students used a somewhat uncommon approach to valuation, creating a very competitive case. We are confident that they will represent the College well in Montreal,” said Dumpe.

The competition was started in 2011 by Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business and Can Berkom and Associates Inc. It is finance-specific and focuses on small-cap investment. The competition provides business students with the chance to showcase skills they learned in the classroom and network with business students and finance professionals from around the globe.

Thirty teams completed a qualifying case, then eight teams along with Kent State were selected based on the merits of the qualifying case submission. The nine teams will compete in Montreal for the first place prize amounting to $3,000. Teams will present an initial presentation to the judges, receive feedback, make revisions to improve their presentation and ultimate chance of success. The top three placing teams will be announced at the awards dinner on March 21.
