Luxury ski specialist Kaluma introduces Big Green Eggs to its chalet collection

PETERSFIELD, U.K. - March 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Bespoke ski travel tour operator Kaluma has welcomed a new partner this winter, in the form of The Big Green Egg.

A revolutionary barbecue concept, The Big Green Egg is now featured at every one of Kaluma’s five alpine chalets in Verbier, St. Anton and Courchevel 1850.

Each week Kaluma’s expert chefs are cooking up a culinary storm using The Big Green Eggs on the chalets’ terraces, and guests are enjoying a whole new fully-catered experience.

The Big Green Egg is much more than a BBQ. Kaluma’s guests are being indulged with smoked fish and game, aromatic racks of lamb, slow-cooked meats, crispy yet succulent pork belly and steaks, as well as wood-fired pizzas, baked focaccia, scones and brownies thanks to this versatile product.

Its tough enamel exterior is perfect for the mountain outdoors, and the interior technology of the Egg means that it can keep food hotter for longer – ideal for the Kaluma chefs when preparing their guests’ meals each day.

Kaluma director Andy Butterworth explains why the partnership is working so well. “We’ve always loved the idea of being able to eat outdoors with our guests on our chalet terraces. Ski holidays are an outdoor experience, and the mountain air is so crisp and fresh in the evenings. With normal BBQs though, even our highly skilled chefs would have struggled to keep them hot enough and prevent the food from drying out, so until now we haven’t been able to make al fresco eating part of the Kaluma experience.

“Our chefs have been able to get really creative with their repertoire this season and design innovative menus because of the incredible functionality of the Eggs. We’re always looking for ways to bring the unusual to our ski trips, and to give our guests a unique and exhilarating stay with us. The food they eat is such a huge part of the trip and so partnering up with companies with the same ethos – who want to turn convention on its head – is the perfect way to help us bring the unexpected, quite literally, to the table.
