WASHINGTON DC−On April 2nd Central Properties will host a presentation for housing providers on the basics of staying in compliance with DC's numerous housing laws. The session will be led by DC's Housing Provider Ombudsman, Ms. Tonya M. Butler-Truesdale. Part of the Central Properties Mentors Series, the presentation is open to all landlords and real estate professionals, and is sponsored by Central Properties real estate brokerage.

The Housing Provider Ombudsman (HPO) is the primary resource in DC government tasked with helping small housing providers better understand the District of Columbia's housing laws. Ms. Butler-Truesdale will cover common issues landlords encounter in the course of business. While HPO does not provide legal advice, she is available to answer questions, provide technical assistance surrounding the law and procedure governing rental housing, conversion and sale, tenant purchase, and other housing subjects.

"Housing providers in DC are often worried about compliance with DC's housing laws," observed Paul Sliwka, President and Broker of Central Properties. "This is especially true for newer, less experienced investment property owners and real estate agents, but all landlords are legally responsible and should carefully observe the law," concluded Sliwka, who also oversees the company's property management division.

The Central Properties Mentors Series features industry expert speakers and aims to give real estate professionals an easy way to learn and network. The seminars are intended to build a strong and knowledgeable real estate community. Past Mentors Series presentations have covered the importance of operating ethically in business, and how real estate agents can define their brand to more effectively market themselves.
