The Youth Fair’s Track & Field set for April 4 at Ferguson Sr. High

MIAMI - March 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The Youth Fair’s Annual Track & Field, the sports event that includes sprints, relays, hurdles, race walking, long jumps, high jumps, discus, javelin and shot put, is set for 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on April 4, 2015  at John A. Ferguson Senior High School, 15900 SW 56th St., Miami, Fla. 33185

The Youth Fair’s annual Track & Field is open to the first 30 high school teams that contact the meet director: Coach Ryan Raposo: 305-788-4232; ryanraposo@gmail.com

Registration: Two (2) competitors per event (possibly more) and one (1) relay team

Meet Schedule:

8:30am- Coaches Meeting

9:00am- Girls 4x800m Championship Relay, followed by Boys 4x800m Championship Relay

9:00am- Field Events, first rounds - Preliminaries and Finals

11:00am- Field Events, second rounds - Preliminaries and Finals

* The top eight (8) athletes will advance to Finals for an additional three (3) attempts.

1:00pm - Running Preliminaries:

100m / 110m Hurdles - Top eight (8) advance to Finals

100m Dash - Top eight (8) advance to Finals

400m Dash - Top eight (8) advance to Finals

4x100m Relay - Top eight (8) advance to Finals

300m Hurdles - Top eight (8) advance to Finals

200m Dash - Top eight (8) advance to Finals

4:00pm - Running Finals:

100m / 110m Hurdles Championship races

100m Dash Championship races

1600m Run Championship races - Multiple sections, slowest to fastest

4x100m Relay Championship races

400m Dash Championship races

300m Hurdles Championship races

800m Run Championship races - Multiple sections, slowest to fastest

200m Dash Championship races

3200m Run Championship races - Single sections

4x400m Relay Championship races- Multiple sections, slowest to fastest

7:00pm - Awards Presentation

* Races will be run with Preliminary heats; the top eight (8) athletes will return to race Finals.

* All NFHS and FHSAA rules will be in effect, please make sure all athletes are in compliance.

* The top eight (8) places score for all seventeen (17) event areas: 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 points.

All Youth Fair athletic events are held in accordance with the official rules of the National Federation of State High School Association, Florida High School Activities Association and the Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC).

The Youth Fair is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization that awards more than $300,000 annually in college scholarships, cash premiums and awards to local public, private, charter and home school students. To date, The Youth Fair has awarded well over $10 million to Miami-Dade students to help them achieve higher education. In 2014, it awarded $90,000 in college scholarships, including $7,000 to winners of Miami-Dade County Public School’s inaugural Elie Wiesel Foundation Prize in Ethics Essay Contest.
