The Boston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incs will celebrate 70 years of service

BOSTON - March 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The Boston Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated will celebrate 70 years of community service, on Saturday, March 28, 2015.  The event titled “A Legacy of Service: Celebrating 70 Years of Sisterhood”, will be attended by men and women who are a part of Boston’s business, higher education, and non-profit communities. The keynote speaker for the event will be the 24th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Cynthia M.A. Butler-McIntyre.

Through the organization’s national Five-Point Program Thrust, which focuses on Economic and Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental enlightenment, and Political Awareness, the Boston Alumnae Chapter provides an array of community service initiatives and programs. In addition to celebrating this milestone, we will honor members of the Greater Boston community who demonstrate excellence in one of the areas of service in which we focus. This year’s honorees include:

Sandra Cotterell, CEO, Codman Square Health Center

Charla Jones, Founder and CEO, Eu2Be Products

Jean McGuire, Executive Director, METCO, Inc.

Sarah-Ann Shaw, Community and Political Advocate

Andrea Swain, Executive Director, Boys and Girls Club of Boston-Yawkey Club of Roxbury

There will also be a special President’s award given to a deserving community leader.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1913 on the campus of Howard University. Today Delta Sigma Theta Sorority has over 250,000 members and more than 900 chapters worldwide.
